Chap5. Technology and Art in Avengers: Endgame

Unlike in the past, we can watch more real and cool movies using more advanced technologies. Among those things, I would like to talk about the technology and art used in a movie called "Avengers: Endgame", which I have enjoyed so much before. From the moment the movie begins, through unrealistic backgrounds, costumes and etc., we can feel that the film has so many technologys inside. First, computer graphics(CG) are used. It means computer-generated video processing, and is so widely used that it is hard to find a movie that does not contain it. As you can see in the picture below, in the case of characters appearing in CGs, they played in special costumes with sensors attached to their entire body, including their own faces. Also, they used the green screen to manipulate the matching background of each scene through a computer.

The next one is V-Ray. It is a rendering software used as a major 3D integrated software plug-in. V-Ray adds specific elements to the background of nothing, and improves the character's realism. It is sometimes used in situations that require very subtle control, such as the character's facial muscles. V-Ray is the biggest factor needed to make the scene richer and more realistic.

The third is sound. A movie without any music, sound effects, or lines cannot convey any kind of massages to viewers. Without sound, it is difficult to figure out what the scene is intended for, and it will soon become boring in less than five minutes. However when sounds are used, those who watch movies can feel the same as intended. Sound is an important medium to help us understand the scene in depth. and also an integral part of a good movie. The last is the brightness of light. Even though the actual filming background is bright, the corresponding scene in the movie can be dark. Adjusting the brightness of the scene to the intention of the person who produces it using computer technology is a very good way to express the atmosphere of the story.

We live in a society that is rapidly developing. As technology improves the quality of life, the way we enjoy leisure also varies, leading to other changes and developments. Movies are one of the easiest to access around us, and they really contain a lot of technologies.
